Meet The Team

Devin Gonzales

Devin Gonzales

Executive Director

Heyyo, Devin here! During the pandemic I got a lot more into cycling because I was looking for a way to be more to be active during the lockdown. That’s when an idea was sparked to attempt a long trek across Ohio with Josh! Since then, we’ve decided to partner with OSPF here in central Ohio to be a source of awareness and fund raising for mental health and suicide prevention. We’ve remained passionate about the cause and found bike-packing through the state as a practical way to be involved in the effort. I’m excited and grateful to be apart of this community and to help people see the best in themselves during the 340 mile journey!

Co-Founders

Hey friends! We’re Sam and Mariah Woodward—partners in life, service, and adventure since 2018! We have always shared a deep passion for helping people heal and feel seen and we are so fortunate to have found careers that allow us to foster those passions. Sam is a firefighter for the city of Cincinnati, and Mariah is an athletic trainer at Middletown High School. Therapy and cycling have been powerful tools in our own mental health journeys—both individually and as a couple. Ride for Hope is a reflection of what we believe in: community as strength, movement as medicine, and hope as something powerful enough to save lives. We’ve each felt the impact of suicide and depression in personal ways, and we show up for Ride for Hope to help erase stigma and walk (or ride) with others toward healing. No one should have to struggle alone—and together, we ride to remind people of that.

Co-Founder

Hi, my name is Josh Snead! I live in Sunbury, OH just a street away from the OTET. I started riding bikes as soon as I could push off a 5 gallon bucket. Riding bikes has always been about getting out and exploring. As of lately I’ve taken that to a whole new level when I found bikepacking. Now I’m dreaming up new places to ride and scouring google maps for places to camp along the way! I got involved with the Ride For Hope in 2020 as part of seeing the great state of Ohio and doing good for our community. I believe it’s important that no one should struggle alone and that everyone should have a community to support them. I hope that this ride can raise money for suicide awareness and show that there is hope for all even in the darkest of days.

Operations

I’m Alex, from the east side of Columbus Ohio. I’ve intermittently cycled since high school but have pursued it more regularly in the last two years. Cycling has been a tool in my own mental health journey of battling depression. It’s my desire to continue that journey by raising awareness of suicide awareness and prevention through the Ride For Hope

We are on a mission to remove suicide as one of the top 10 leading causes of death in America.

Our Impact

Since 2020, Ride for Hope has raised thousands of dollars and rallied a growing community of riders, advocates, and supporters to take action in one of the most urgent public health crises of our time: suicide.

That’s where we come in. Ride for Hope isn’t just about the miles—it’s about making meaningful connections, unity in service of one another, sharing our stories, and finding freedom on the open road! We’ve experienced firsthand the healing power of movement, fresh air, and community and we want to share that with the world!

Whether you’re riding, walking, fundraising, or just showing up—you’re helping us prove that hope is real, and suicide is preventable.
